Oh boy oh boy, what have we been up to lately? Good question…
Jeff had a busy week last week with several U.S. partners and British staff who
came to check out the jobsites. I was lucky enough to join in their tours of
the Christmas markets and fancy dinner at the Weinhaus Tante Anna. The Weinhuas
was built in 1593 and was originally a home and hospital chapel for the former
Jesuit monastery. It opened as a restaurant in 1820 and has continued as a restaurant
since. Talk about history!

We did not go to IKEA this weekend (hooray!), instead we met
up with some new friends and celebrated their new little baby while enjoying
the Christmas markets and gluhwein (we’re not the only ones
who are obsessed). On Sunday, we adventured away from Dusseldorf and traveled
to Cologne. We found a nice cozy seat in the pepto pink dining car. We thought we
accidentally got onto a time travel train at first given the decor!
Once we arrived
in Cologne, we walked directly to the Christmas markets. J It was fun to explore
a new set of markets and enjoy the Christmas festivities with the crowd. Just
like Düsseldorf, it feels like the entire town shuts down on Sunday, so after
wandering the dead downtown, we found a warm place to eat lunch before bundling
up again and walking around a different Christmas market (they are everywhere!).
As we were heading back to check out the giant Cathedral, the monsoon rain started.
We hurried to the Cathedral and found out that there was a ticket only event
happening so we scurried back to the train station and decided to head back to Düsseldorf
and our warm flat. By the time we arrived in Dusseldorf, the sun was shining
and blue skies were trying to peek through the clouds. So, instead of going
home guess what we did?! We wandered around the Düsseldorf Christmas markets. J We departed the
Christmas markets in time to make it back home for dinner and our version of Sunday
night football.
We’ve been busy this week preparing for our weekend trip to
Spain. We’re flying out on Friday and meeting up with some friends for a little
getaway. We can’t wait for sunny 60 degree weather! Yahoo
