Hello world, here we come!

And we’re off! 3 months, 5 continents, 15 countries, too many cities to count, and so many memories waiting to be made! We can’t believe our “world sampler” is starting and we can’t wait for what’s to come! I’m not sure how many times we’ve asked each other and others, “Are we crazy?!” The answer may be “Yes, at least a little” but the experience and memories will be incredible! There are so many feelings before a big trip. We’re definitely feeling excited about what’s to come and what memories we’ll make. Anticipation about everything going okay and hoping we don’t exhaust ourselves half way through. Disbelief that this is real life. A few nerves, mostly about accidentally encountering Montezuma's revenge… A little sadness that with every beginning there is also an end and we don’t want that to come! But mostly, I think we’re just so grateful to have the opportunity to do one of our favorite things together - Travel! It’s something we both love, it refreshes us, reminds us...

A South African Safari

Pinch me! I must be dreaming! That’s the feeling I have writing this! Our time in South Africa was amazing and the safari was a complete dream! South Africa is our 3rd continent and 9th country! Crazy! We planned a buffer day in Johannesburg and are so glad we did as I caught a bout of the infamous traveler's stomach… it was bound to happen with all of our travels, and thankfully our travel doc gave us emergency meds that worked wonders! Most of the day was spent as a rest day, which felt glorious, but we did venture out to a nearby shopping mall to grab some snacks and stretch our legs. Later in the evening, we strolled around the country club that was attached to the hotel, breathing in the crisp fall air which was a welcomed change after all of the crazy heat. We left Jo-Burg and headed to what may have claimed the title for “the best part of our three month trip”. This safari has to be on our top three best ever experiences! Bula Fiji!

Bula Fiji! We survived our 11 hour flight! It was a wee bit cramped for our tall bodies (poor Jeff) but miraculously we were both able to catch some z’s and felt fairly refreshed when our flight landed at 6am. First impression - everyone is so friendly! As we departed the plane we were greeted by a smiling trio strumming on their guitars, and from then on, everywhere we went people were just so friendly. We caught a taxi to the hotel and on the way our driver gave us a Fijian language lesson and a few tips on things we should do (one of our new favorite terms is “sega na leqa” - Fiji’s version of “hakuna matata”). At the resort we were greeted with more smiles and a few high fives. Since our flight was so early and our room wasn’t ready, we dropped our bags off and set out to tour Port Denaru. We grabbed a coffee and watched the boats and people come and go. We still had time to kill once we arrived back at the hotel, so we settled in, ordered a pina colada (a must when you’...
